Reggie Barlow is currently an NCAA Division II college football head coach at Virginia State University. Prior to this role, Reggie served as NCAA Division I college football head coach at his alma mater, Alabama State University. He is also a former professional football player in the National Football League.
As a head coach at Alabama State University, Reggie coached his team to five consecutive winning seasons and was the second all-time winningest coach in the school’s history.
As a player in the National Football League (NFL), Reggie played primarily as a punt returner and kick returner, but also played as a secondary wide receiver. He played eight years in the league, five for the Jacksonville Jaguars, two for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and one offseason on the Oakland Raiders roster. Reggie won a World Championship in Super Bowl XXXVII.
Even at the height of his success, thoughts of coaching, mentoring, motivating, public speaking and giving back were never far from Reggie’s mind. Throughout his career, Reggie collected tips, ideas, quotes and habits of his coaches, players, friends and family members, going so far as to record them in a notebook. This practice continues today. Reggie is an avid reader, always seeking to improve himself and those around, both professionally and personally. When Reggie isn’t studying football, speaking at local schools, rotary and quarterback clubs, he is fishing or spending time with his family.
